About
The Gallery
The gallery is based in a Georgian townhouse built in 1743 in the heart of Soho. In addition to private dealing, Robert Upstone presents exhibitions devoted to Modern British and contemporary artists.
Robert Upstone
He was formerly Senior Curator at Tate Britain, where he acquired works for the national collection and curated major exhibitions and displays. During his museum career he organised exhibitions and collaborative projects with leading institutions in Britain and internationally.
After Tate, Robert became a Director of The Fine Art Society in Bond Street, Britain's oldest commercial dealership, before establishing his own gallery in Soho in 2016.
Expertise
Robert served for nine years as a member of the Government's Acceptance in Lieu Panel and has advised collectors, estates, museums and institutions on acquisitions, collections and cultural property. His expertise in nineteenth- and twentieth-century British art has led to appointments as curator, adviser and valuer for private collectors, museums and public institutions. He is currently preparing the catalogue raisonné of Christopher Wood.
